Well, we made it back safely & almost in 1 piece!
After many falls, suffering dehydration, concussion & sickness we finally got to the finish line 8 days later.
We met many wonderful people & lifelong friends.
All in all it was a fantastic trip with it's many ups & downs(quite literally) & an adventure not to have missed.
We have come home with many great memories of the biking & the local people that we met.
I recommend this trip to anyone, but i suggest you be more prepared for the heat than we were!!

We're on countdown!

It's been 7 months since i last visited my blog... where has the summer gone?
In August we had another fundraising event but i completely forgot to update my blog.
We had a BBQ on one of the coldest August days in North Yorkshire, everybody else was having a heatwave!
Anyway, another few hundred pounds was put towards the total.

So, we are 11 days away from heading South. I've got the luggage out & piled our biking gear up & i'm now in panic mode cos. room is going to be tight due to bulky gear...boots, armour, knee pads etc.
Terry has not even thought about the trip, he's so busy with work. I just hope i remember everything for him! There's so much to do & think about before we go.
We fly off on the 9th, our 1st leg is Heathrow from Manchester. Since we don't fly til 9pm from London we'll have already have been 'on the go' since 1pm!

I can't believe we booked this trip 18 months ago & now it's here it just doesn't seem real. I'm very excited at the same time as being slightly nervous!

A huge success & target reached

It's Sunday the 11th March & i have just finished working out just how much we made at the Auction on Friday night.
Including donations leading up to the event, from people who couldn't make it on the night,we made a staggering £3620.00!which takes our total over £10,000.
We had a hugely enjoyable evening during which we wined & dined well & listened to my father talk about life in the chocolate business.
We had 20 wonderful items to auction, including a watercolour by our local artist Kitty North, who has a gallery in London.
Silentnight Beds which is based 3 miles down the road donated a single divan bed worth £300.
Our local pub/hotel were also very generous by providing 3 items to auction. One of which was a w/e for 4 people in a self catering cottage on the outskirts of Grange over Sands. I bought this lot for myself & Terry as a 'treat'. I think after 8 months of fundraising, we deserve it!
I also took orders for Easter Eggs, as the ones i donated for the auction were very popular.
We raised £545 from playing a game called 'heads & tails', which the prizes were 2 large easter eggs & a large chocolate rabbit. Also from the sale of 3 more large rabbits & 3 flower arrangements from the table
We are going to take a break for a while to decide whether we have one more event in us!

Another event beckons

Friday 9th March is the 'big one'. Well, it was supposed to be but we had bad news at the w/e, as one of our local companies backed out of coming to our auction/dinner. This is not good news as we think we may be let down by another table or 2. Am hanging on at the end of the phone line waiting for someone to tell me they have filled at least 1 table.
Numbers have now dwindled to about 40.
Though we will reach our target after this event with 40, we would much prefer to fill the function room with 70 people as planned.
Every event has struggled to get the numbers. It such hard work to get people out! I was really hoping to fill all the tables as we've got some great items to auction. Let's hope the next day or 2 brings some good news.
